Food is aways fresh! Great for Dim Sum and dinner or banquet! Very friendly staff! My stomach and wallet is so happy here!Had a great brunch with friends today!!!!
Went for CNY dimsum. Considering the holiday, the wait wasn't too bad. Food was decent and had good prices. The only thing was that the dimsum carts didn't make as frequent rounds as they should've. We had to go retrieve dishes.
Really good dim sum. Was really busy when we went there. They ended up opening the basement. Don't expect carts downstairs. There's no shame in getting a tray and your stamp card and going upstairs to get the items you want. But then again we were with family who know the staff. Definitely adds to the experience!!
If you're like me, you tend to judge restaurants on two major factors: quality of food and price. In New York, there are very few restaurants that get a high score on the price front, good quality or no. Sunshine 27 is one of the only places I've ever been to that somehow manages to have sumptuous food that fills you up and doesn't drain your wallet. Thanks to that, it's now one of my favorite restaurants in New York and is a place my friends and I go to weekly to grab lunch. I can't recommend it enough.
Food and service are both good.
Really good and really cheap authentic Cantonese food. Would definitely go again :)
It's convenient because you can just point and choose, but you often have to guess what it is. Good luck trying to find a seat on the weekend.
Jellyfish is overseasoned but not the worst
Food tastes great and is inexpensive.
The grass jelly and black sesame cake are my favorite.
Went to the re-opened Sunshine Restaurant for dimsum. It's great. Everything is super fresh.
Best family and dim sum restaurant. The food is very tasty and love the interior
Yum yum yum!!!! Staff is always friendly to me and notice when I have not been there in some time. Tasty selection of dim sum and you can always order from thekiitchen at any time! I heart Sunshine!❤❤❤❤👏
OMG! This place is awesome! I like that it's inside Chinatown and not yet overrun by tourists. The food is amazing! Whenever I go, the rice and broccoli is always a staple as well as the fluffy pork buns. Also, having random people besides my party be seated at the same table is awesome.
This place is absolutely fantabulous and the food is authentic and great tasting. You should obviously be come here for family gatherings and let everyone enjoy their amazing meats and Chinese dishes.
Dim sum is good at fair price. Busy after 10 am.
Nasty place serving nasty food.
Food and portions are good. They didn't rush us out of there.
Here has been the spot for dinner night out in Chinatown.
I been here for dinner and dim sum. Never disappointed. Flavor is great and to salty. Always friendly and attentive. They have dinner specials to pick from and if you have a large party they can accomendate.
I was looking for a non-touristy/cheap/good quality option for dim sum in Chinatown. My friend (who lives in Chinatown) suggested Sunshine and it was a great recommendation! I normally don't review dim sum places because they're pretty much all the same to me. However, I thought I should review Sunshine because I really enjoyed the experience. All other dim sum places in Chinatown are crawling with tourists, way over-priced, and don't even taste that good. Sunshine is not that crowded, the food is good, and it's cheap. Between the two of us, we ordered 7 little plates and our total came out to $24. This actually makes me not want to write a review because I want to be selfish and keep this place to myself. Would definitely come back next time I find myself in Chinatown looking for dim sum!
First time here, very busy, about 99% customers is chinese we have dim sum and ordered food for dinner, food was good and the portions of the takeout is huge ,with lunch and dinner including tips we spent $43.50. USD (cash only restaurant), not the best chinese food that I had, for the price and sizes of the portion this is the place in Chinatown for Cantonese food. ( Is two of us for dim sum, takeout dinner is for three people)
Still not opened yet but my dimsum restaurant of choice
I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a good clean food in Chinatown. The restaurant is getting to the point where it's pretty run down and the staff is poorly ran, and the plate settings are always dirty. I think the most majority of their clients are elderly customers. I defense of the restaurant just gave up
My son fell in love with the Dim sum here and we had to make a repeat visit the next day for more. Very authentic!!!! Delicious and great prices!
The dim sum is really good. They try to sell you on everything so don't be a pushover. It's cash only and most of their food is good. Aside from the dim sum I would also recommend some other Cantonese treats such as shrimp wrapped in rice noodles and turnip cake. So some of their choices are a bit expensive. I like this place but it's not my favorite Cantonese restaurant.
Good place for dim sum in Chinatown. Busy when I arrived, most of the customers appear to be locals. When it is busy, expect to share a table with strangers. The carts came around slowly, but the staff also carried trays of hot dim sum around with trays. The selection was tasty and the prices reasonable.
Delicious, fresh lobster and fish, VERY reasonably priced, nice owners.
Take it from the non Asian who loves and eats with his Asian in laws! My fav dim sum place in Chinatown, and I’ve been to all of them, this one used to be on Bowery but moved. Where the locals eat.Best sticky rice, best shrimp rolls, best pork buns, best dumplings. If I could give them 10 stars I would!
A great place! Food is delicious and the way they serve you it's so cool!
Excellent foods and service at reasonable prices.
A good place for family style food. The portions are good and quality is better than most Chinese places around the area. The good thing is, it is never packed so no wait times on week days. Weekend is a totally different. The staff is friendly as well. Overall good food for a good price.
Great chinese style food!! There are a lot of options to choose from!
Good and tasty food. Service is good and the prices are better than the touristy dim sum places
Under rated, lost in a sea of Chinese restaurants, worth a visit.
Decent food but service is very very slow. The waiters are very inattentive and just walks around looking busy and customers are getting annoyed.
Happy to report that Sunshine Seafood Restaurant has re-opened after renovation. At 27 Division Street is the best authentic Banquet style dim sum restaurant in Chinatown. This place succeeds without any p.r., press, advertising or crowd sourced nonsense. None of the others compare, either in atmosphere, quality, cleanliness or service. The place is always bustling with Chinese families in celebration, the dim sum carts are plentiful, the varieties endless, the price points low. They are also a fine option at dinnertime, especially excellent are their Cantonese Classics including fresh seafood and shellfish options. It is always a joy and a comfort to come here.
Just opened and everything looks super fancy and clean. They recently changed the interior. I went here for dim sum and dinner with big family. They give big portions which is very nice. Would come back again considering how the service and food was great.
Dim sum place in the morning, pretty crowded and wait can be long if you have a large group. If you are a couple they can seat you quick but you will probably sit with others at a larger table.
Affordable prices, respectable food tastes and quality.
Decent price for dim sum on weekdays. Food was decent and tasty. Not much of a variety as other places but then most in the neighborhood. The crystal shrimp Dumpling skin was a bit thicker than what I'm used to. Atmosphere was bustling and lively. Be prepared to share a table if your party is less than the table which is kinda normal for a dim sum place. Overall I would go back for the dishes I did miss.
Not a bad place to visit
The restaurant has been open for a long time. I used to come here a lot for dim sum and lunch. They have the best authentic Chinese food and good service. I always come back here when I’m in Chinatown
The food was average, rated at 3.8. The service was excellent and rated at 4.4.
Excellent foods and service at reasonable prices
Very good real Chinese food, good service too.
The food is not bad here but the place is not really near the subway. The crowd is usually older Asian folks.
Great seafood and order of homemade chicken. 😀👍
Pretty nice, clean place and delicious food.
Very yummy push cart style dim sum and love that we didn't have to wait too long to get a table of 8.
